This evocative photograph captures the historic Denman Arms pub in Peckham, London, as it once stood before its closure in 2017. The image presents a corner view of the public house, with its distinctive red brick facade and ornate signage adorning the corner. The Denman Arms, a beloved local watering hole, was a fixture in the community for many decades, with records indicating that it had been in operation since at least 1934. The pub, which was run by the Hoare and Company Limited, was a popular gathering place for residents of Peckham and beyond. The back of the print reveals the pub's trading record, detailing its operation from 1934 through to 1961. Sadly, by July 2018, the Denman Arms had closed its doors, and the ground floor had been boarded up. The building now stands as a reminder of the rich history and character of Peckham's past. This photograph is a testament to the importance of preserving the stories and memories of local pubs, which have long served as social hubs and community centers.
