EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the charming facade of the Chinese Gardens Public House in Hurstpierpoint, Sussex. The intricately designed exterior, adorned with vibrant colors and intricate details, once welcomed patrons to this beloved local watering hole. The name "Chinese Gardens" added an air of exoticism and mystery to the establishment, intriguing passersby and drawing them in. The Chinese Gardens PH was a cherished part of the community in Hurstpierpoint, a small town nestled in the heart of Sussex. The pub, which was also known as a boozer or bar, was a gathering place for locals and visitors alike. It was not only a place to enjoy a pint or a meal, but also a place to connect with friends and neighbors. The building, which was owned by a brewery company, limited, boasted a rich history. The photograph, taken prior to July 2018, shows the pub in its prime. Sadly, by the mid-1990s, the Chinese Gardens PH had been demolished to make way for a small housing development called Pierpoint Close. The loss of this historic pub was deeply felt by the community, leaving behind only memories and this beautiful photograph to remind us of its existence. The Chinese Gardens PH was not affiliated with any particular company or limited, but rather a standalone public house that was a beloved part of the Hurstpierpoint landscape. This photograph is a testament to the power of community and the enduring appeal of a well-loved local establishment.
