The image is taken from Théodore-Henri Marie Antoine Rousseau Lejeune's Complete Works of Buffon, published in Brussels in 1837. The African Sacred Ibis, also known as the Dung Ibis, is native to the Nile Valley in Africa. It is easily recognizable by its distinctive downward-curved beak and long, slender legs.
