Martin I of Aragon, also known as "The Humane," is depicted in this stunning 15th-century miniature from the Book of Privileges of the Cartuja de Vall de Christ, housed in the Library of Catalonia in Barcelona, Spain. Born in 1356, Martin ascended to the throne of Aragon, Valencia, Sardinia, and Corsica in 1396, and later became King of Sicily in 1409 under the name Martin II.
