The GLC-LFB was created on 1 April 1965. A series of photos was commissioned of each type of fire engine, either within or absorbed into the enlarged London Fire Brigade. The Brigade was divided into three Command areas, Northern, Eastern and Southern, each with a Command Headquarters which had a Command major control unit stationed at it. Established on 1 April 1965, the GLC-LFB was formed by the merger of various fire services in and around London. In order to manage the enlarged Brigade, it was divided into three command areas: Northern, Eastern, and Southern, each with a Command Headquarters. Seen here is the interior of the Northern Command control unit, which was stationed at the Command Headquarters.
