Johannes Secundus, born as Jan Nicolai Everaerts on October 15, 1511, in Den Haag, Netherlands, was a Dutch poet whose life was tragically cut short at the young age of 25. Secundus, a name he earned due to his being the second Jan Everaerts in his family, is best known for his poetic works that reflected the humanist ideals of the time.
