Suffragette Board Game PANK-A-SQUITH

A suffragette board game called Pank-A-Squith which was first advertised in the pages of Votes for Women, October 1909. It was described as a highly artistic TABLE GAME that helps to spread the movement. A suffragette tries to get from her home to the Houses of Parliament facing a series of challenges and various incidents. There are 50 squares, each having a detailed and colourful vignette, showing 10 Downing Street, Trafalgar Square, Hyde Park Demonstrations, Bow St. Court, Queen's Hall, Clements Inn, Mrs. Pankhurst, Inspector Jarvis, Prime Minister Asquith, Tax Resistance, The Suffragette Dreadnought, Hunger Strikers, Holloway Prison and the forging of suffragette brand handcuffs. There are six metal suffragette figures with sashes and scrolls. The base of the board is of purple, white and green stripes. Date: 1909

Westminster Hospital opening April 1939

A great event in hospital history the new Westminister Hospital will be open on 20th April 1939 by His Majesty King accompanied by Her Majesty The Queen. Westminster Hospital was a hospital in London, England, founded in 1719. In 1834 a medical school attached to the hospital was formally founded. In 1939 a newly built hospital and medical school opened in Horseferry Road, Westminster. Date: April 1939

Suffragette House that Man Built Policeman. Policeman has a suffragette in his grip whilst another attempts to bring her umbrella down firmly on his head. AND this is the policeman all tattered and torn, who wished women voters had never been born, Who nevertheless Tho it caused him distress, Ran them all in, In spite of their dress. Date: circa 1908
