HMS Aurora (12), a British Arethusa-class light cruiser, cuts through the waves of the open sea during the 1940s. Commissioned in 1937, HMS Aurora served as an active and vital component of the Royal Navy's Home Fleet during the early years of World War II. The Arethusa class cruisers, including HMS Aurora, were designed to provide long-range support for the Royal Navy's battleships and aircraft carriers.
