EDITORS COMMENTS
In the enchanting world of the Epilogue Ball, held at the conclusion of the International Advertising Convention in July 1924 at Olympia, London, women donned elaborate costumes inspired by renowned weekly magazines of the era. The Epilogue Ball was an annual event, a grand finale to the convention that brought together the crème de la crème of the advertising industry. Among the captivating costumes were those representing The Sphere, The Tatler, and The Sketch. In the top photograph, a group of ladies dressed as The Sphere, with its distinctive blue and white spherical design, gracefully pose. The bottom left image showcases The Tatler ladies, their costumes reminiscent of the famous eighteenth-century dandy adorning the cover of the magazine. The bottom right photograph features The Sketch ladies, their outfits reflecting the artistic and fashionable nature of the publication. The competition for the best costume was fierce, but the Tatler group emerged victorious with their elaborate and authentic eighteenth-century dandy attire. This delightful tradition added an element of excitement and camaraderie to the convention, allowing attendees to celebrate the creative spirit of the advertising industry and the influential power of the weekly magazines.
