The Dracontium percusum is a monocotyledonous, monocot angiosperm, belonging to the order Alismatales within the class Magnoliophyta. This plant is native to the tropical regions of South America, particularly in Brazil. The illustration showcases the unique and intriguing features of this flowering plant. At the center, a large, yellow, spathe and spadix can be seen. The spathe is a modified leaf that forms a protective sheath around the spadix, which is a specialized inflorescence composed of numerous small flowers.
