In this evocative photograph from the collection of Sapper G Penman, Royal Engineers, we witness a selection of detonation devices used during the turbulent period in Northern Ireland from approximately 1970 to 1979. The image serves as a poignant reminder of the military efforts to maintain peace and security during this time of conflict. The detonation devices on display are essential components of the explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) arsenal, employed to safely disarm or destroy explosives. The devices include a variety of types, each designed for specific purposes. The first device, at the center of the photograph, is a Time-Pinned Detonator. The third device, on the right, is a Radio Controlled Detonator.
