As the years passed, Genevieve continued to live a pious life, founding several monasteries and convents and performing numerous miracles. However, as she grew older, the end of her earthly life drew near. According to tradition, on the eve of her death, Genevieve gathered her sisters in prayer, asking them to sing hymns and psalms in her honor. As they sang, the saint's soul was said to have ascended to heaven, leaving her body to be buried in the Abbey of Saint Genevieve in Paris.
