Charles Coburn (June 19, 1877 August 30, 1961) billed here as The Tramp Comedian, Vocalist, Reciter and Story Merchant. The text refers to The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo (1890). With Two Lovely Black Eyes (1886). This song made Coburn a huge music hall star, but by 1926, the date of this card, the vogue for the 74 year old had waned and he was trying to boost his popularity by walking long distances between appearances. With a determined stride and a trilby hat shading his eyes, he set out to walk between his performances, covering impressive distances that totaled an astonishing 3000 miles.
