The children, dressed in turn-of-the-century clothing, gaze in awe at the majestic pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, which can be seen in the background. The Sphinx, guardian of the complex, also makes a prominent appearance. The avenue, known as the Processional Way or the Sacred Way, was once lined with sphinxes and obelisks, leading to the pyramids and the Temple of the Sun at Heliopolis. This avenue was the route taken by the pharaohs during their funerary processions. The trees and lush vegetation along the avenue provide a stark contrast to the barren desert landscape surrounding the pyramids.
