In this evocative photograph, taken on September 15, 1914, members of the 2nd Scots Guards bid farewell to the historic Tower of London as they prepare to march off to camp in the New Forest for the formation of the 7th Division during the First World War. The soldiers, many of whom are seen smiling up at the camera, seem to carry a sense of camaraderie and excitement as they embark on their military journey.
