EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases Wassily Kandinsky's masterpiece, "Heavy Red" created in July 1924. The artwork, measuring 58.7 x 48.7 cm, is an oil painting on cardboard and bears the artist's monogram and date in the lower left corner: K [within an angle, a stylized V], 24. The piece itself exudes a sense of boldness and intensity with its dominant red hues that seem to pulsate off the canvas. However, it also reveals signs of wear and tear over time as the paint layer has been damaged, leaving parts of the artist's signature incomplete. On the reverse side of the cardboard, there is another monogrammed inscription: K [within an angle, a stylized V]. Additionally, it is inscribed with "No 276 Heavy Red I924" further adding to its historical significance. Wassily Kandinsky was born in Moscow in 1866 but spent his final years in Neuilly-sur-Seine/Hauts-de-Seine before passing away in 1944. Known for his pioneering role in abstract art and his deep connection to spirituality influencing his work greatly. This print from Liszt Collection offers viewers a glimpse into one of Kandinsky's most powerful creations—an exploration of color symbolism and emotional expression that continues to captivate audiences today.
