EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the grandeur of Shobdon Court, Herefordshire in 1910. The magnificent grade II listed building, once owned by Sir James Bateman, MP and renowned financier, stood as a symbol of opulence and power. Sir Bateman's notable positions as a director of the East India Company, Governor of the Bank of England (1705-7), and sub-Governor of the South Sea Company from 1711 exemplify his influence during that era.
