EDITORS COMMENTS
. This print captures the grandeur of Hyde Park Corner in London during the 1930s. Standing proudly amidst the bustling cityscape is Apsley House, a magnificent country house originally built by Robert Adam in the late 18th century. Transformed into the Duke of Wellington's main London residence by Benjamin Dean Wyatt, it became known as No. 1, London. The image also showcases the adjacent Hyde Park Screen, an architectural masterpiece crafted by Decimus Burton between 1822 and 1825. Its neoclassical design adds a touch of elegance to this already picturesque scene. As you gaze at this timeless photograph, you can almost imagine yourself strolling along the avenue that leads to Hyde Park's majestic entrance. The iron Duke himself, Arthur Wellesley, once walked these very streets. With its monochrome charm and impeccable composition, this print is not only a visual delight but also a historical treasure.
