Created in 1836 by CE Wagstaff, this portrait captures the essence of a man who played a significant role in shaping England's political landscape during his time. Hyde's life was marked by both triumphs and setbacks. As Chancellor of the Exchequer to King Charles I, he wielded great influence and authored the Clarendon Code, which aimed to uphold the Church of England's authority.
