EDITORS COMMENTS
The Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry. . . at Brandywine, 1777" is a captivating print that captures a significant incident during the American Revolutionary War. Taken in 1939 by Richard Caton Woodville II, this image depicts the aftermath of a fierce battle near Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania on September 11th, 1777. In this historic moment, American soldiers led by Brigadier General Anthony Wayne were brutally attacked and forced into close combat with British soldiers under the command of Major General Charles Grey.
