Amidst the serene ambiance of The Fairway in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, Anne Morrow's imaginative brushstrokes brought Wates House to life. Meanwhile, in the same venue, the soothing melodies of Alto saxophonist Matt Wates and The Lee Gibson Quartet filled the air in 1999 and 2003, creating an enchanting musical atmosphere. Fast forward to 2012, as Matt Wates collaborated with renowned artist Alan John Ainsworth, capturing his essence in a striking portrait. Yet, the tranquility of Welwyn Garden City was momentarily disrupted when five police officers stood guard outside Peel House in London. Contrastingly, the raw beauty of Fraser Island in Queensland, Australia, presented a starkly different landscape, reminding us of the diverse worlds that Wates and his music have touched.
