Temminck's Courser, also known as Cursorius temminckii, is a fascinating bird species found in various parts of Africa. With its distinctive appearance and behavior, this ground-dwelling bird captures the attention of many wildlife enthusiasts. Another remarkable avian species associated with Temminck's name is the Temminck's Lark (Eremophila bilopha). This small songbird can be spotted in arid regions across North Africa and southwestern Asia. Its melodious songs fill the air, adding a touch of beauty to these barren landscapes. Moving away from birds, we encounter the intriguing Temminck's Ground Pangolin (Manis temminckii), an armored mammal native to Zambia. This nocturnal creature roams the savannahs at night in search of ants and termites. However, it was quite unusual to spot an adult walking along the ground during daylight hours in Kafue National Park. In Morocco during March, one might come across another captivating sight - an adult male Temminck's Horned Lark standing proudly on a rock. These striking larks are known for their unique feather patterns and horn-like tufts on their heads. Their presence adds vibrancy to rocky terrains. Venturing further east into Assam, India, we find ourselves observing an adult Temminck's Stint (Calidris temminckii) standing gracefully on mud within a marshy habitat. These wading birds migrate long distances each year and are often seen feeding on insects or small crustaceans amidst wetlands like Dibru-Saikhowa National Park. Back again in Morocco but this time in Boulmane Dades during February; we witness yet another stunning display by an adult male Temminck's Horned Lark perched atop a rock formation. The contrast between its plumage and surroundings creates a picturesque scene that photographers can't resist capturing.
