The tapir, a fascinating creature found in various parts of the world, never fails to capture our attention. Picture No. 10751181 showcases a young lowland tapir calf standing alertly in Dortmund, Germany. The bond between mother and calf is beautifully depicted in the image of a Brazilian tapir duo. Tapirs belong to the family Tapiridae and are native to South America, as seen at the Manu Wildlife Centre in Peru. Intriguingly, these gentle giants can also be spotted indulging in clay licks within the Amazon rainforest of Peru. Their unique appearance is exemplified by the Malayan tapir's side view; its contrasting black and white coat makes it easily distinguishable from other species like warthogs or manatees. Tapirs hold great cultural significance too - an engraving dating back to 1803 depicts their presence alongside manatees. This portrayal highlights their enduring existence throughout history. Another captivating sight is that of an Asian/Malayan tapir lying down with its adorable baby by its side. These magnificent creatures inhabit regions ranging from Burma and Thailand all the way south to Malaya and Sumatra. Whether it's their distinctive appearance or their endearing behavior, tapirs continue to captivate us with their charm wherever they roam across different continents.
