As we delve into the past, we are transported to the 1920s when Henry Cosney's steam lorry was hard at work in Rivelin Glen Quarry, Sheffield. The contoured plan Valley Road circa 1900 gives us a glimpse into how this road meandered through the picturesque Yorkshire landscape. Artists Impression of M and H Armitage and Co. Mousehole Forge on the River Rivelin takes us back to a time when craftsmanship thrived along its banks. Walter Spencer and Co. Ltd. 's steam lorry also played its part in shaping the quarry industry during that era. Nature lovers will be captivated by the breathtaking sight Waterfall as it cascades down with majestic force, leaving visitors spellbound. Looking further back into history, a plan dating back to 1814 reveals how Rivelin Mill stood proudly alongside Hollins Bridge. Intriguingly, King Edward VII Crippled Children's Institution once graced Rivelin Valley Road; block plans from 1913 offer insight into its layout while elevations showcase its architectural grandeur. However, not all moments etched in memory are joyous ones. The devastating Sheffield Flood of 1864 left ruins at Malin Bridge Village visible for miles around. Lastly, we cannot forget the significant role Rivers Loxley and Rivelin played during that catastrophic event as they intersected at Malin Bridge - an important historical site forever marked by tragedy.
