"From Accrington Stanley FC to Granada Studios: A Raincoat Through Time" In 1936, the rain poured down as the players of Accrington Stanley FC donned their trusty raincoats, ready to conquer the football field. Fast forward to July 1968, and Virginia Wetherell arrived at Granada Studios in Manchester, shielding herself from the drizzle with a stylish raincoat. Even in wet weather, her elegance shone through. Back in 1925 and 1926, artist Arthur Briscoe captured the essence of a helmsman braving stormy seas while clad in his reliable raincoat. The coat became an emblem of resilience against nature's fury. The Duke and Duchess of York visited Durham Colliery amidst gray skies. Their raincoats protected them as they ventured into the depths of this industrial landscape, showing solidarity with hardworking miners. Across continents, a Chinese farmer carried his hoe under a palmleaf raincoat. His humble attire symbolized resourcefulness and adaptability in face of unpredictable weather conditions. A girl dressed in yellow walked her black dog under pouring rain; Muriel Dawson's painting immortalized this charming scene where both human and animal found solace beneath their waterproof coats. Irish Drunk Pat had his own unique logic when it came to drinking but even he knew that wearing a sturdy raincoat was essential during rainy pub crawls. At Bullingdon Club Point To Point event at Oddington, Mr John Ward and Miss Nancy Beaton showcased their impeccable style by pairing their elegant outfits with fashionable yet practical raincoats - proving that one can look sophisticated even on muddy terrains. During Lymington Cricket Week Lady Rosemary Bootle-Wilbraham stood out not only for her cricket skills but also for her fashion-forward approach - sporting a chic raincoat that added flair to her game-day ensemble. In times of scarcity during World War II, people were encouraged to repair their own fur coats.
