Queen Louise of Prussia, a remarkable figure in European history, is depicted in various moments of her life. In this engraving, she is seen with her two eldest sons, the future King Frederick-William IV and Emperor William I, in 1797. Later, in 1807, she met Napoleon I at Tilsit during the signing of the second treaty of Tilsit. Her autograph, along with other famous statesmen, princes, and generals, is preserved in historical archives. Tragically, she passed away on July 19, 1810, as depicted in this mourning engraving. The legacy lives on through her portraits, such as this one of Louise de Lorraine, Duke of Guise, Marguerite de Vaudemont, and Anne de Joyeuse, from 1581. Her memory is also honored in modern times through the Queen Louise Bridge in Copenhagen, Denmark. Frederick William III, King of Prussia, and his wife, Queen Louise, are seen here in a color lithograph from 1800. Carl Gustaf Pilo's portrait of Queen Lovisa Louise of Denmark, and the famous portrait of King Frederick IV of Denmark, Frederick IV, are also reminders of the enduring impact of these historical queens.
