"Petrograd: A City of Revolution and Scientific Advancement" Step into the captivating world of Petrograd, a city that witnessed both political upheaval and groundbreaking scientific discoveries. From the reign of Tsar Nicholas II to the Russian Revolution, this historic city holds tales of power struggles and societal transformations. In 1912-14, at the Imperial Military Academy of Medicine in St. Petersburg, renowned physiologist Ivan Pavlov conducted his famous experiment on a dog. With his assistants and students by his side, Pavlov delved into the intricacies of conditioned reflexes, forever changing our understanding of human behavior. Amidst these scientific advancements, Petrograd became a hotbed for revolution. In 1917, soldiers gathered in the State Duma for a meeting of the soldiers section of the Petrograd Soviet - an event that would shape Russia's destiny. The Russian Revolution unfolded here as ordinary citizens fought for their rights and challenged centuries-old autocratic rule, not only home to political movements but also showcased cultural diversity. Russian women alongside a Finn stood united in their pursuit for equality and freedom during these tumultuous times on Nevsky Prospekt in 1917. As history took its course, Tsar Nicholas II found himself detained at Tsarskoye Selo Palace with armed guards surrounding him - an image symbolizing the downfall of imperial power amidst growing discontent among Russians. The spirit of resistance extended beyond Petrograd's borders; Irkutsk saw demonstrations demanding change while Lenin rallied workers towards revolutionary ideals. Even amidst chaos, acts of compassion shone through as medals were donated generously in 1917 - a testament to humanity's unwavering resilience during trying times. During World War I, farewell masses were held for Women's Battalion members who bravely served their country despite societal norms restricting women from combat roles.
