"Peter Lilja: Exploring the Botanical Wonders of the Mediterranean" Join Peter Lilja on his captivating journey through the stunning landscapes of Crete, Cyprus, and Paphos. In April 2009, he encountered a gnarled trunk of an Olive tree in Kolimvaro, Crete. Its weathered beauty stood as a testament to time's passage. Moving on to Cyprus, Peter marveled at the vibrant orange tree flowers and fruit that adorned the island. The sweet scent filled the air with promises of delicious citrus delights. Venturing into Paphos forest, he discovered the delicate Endemic Rockcress flowers growing within rock cracks. Their resilience against harsh conditions was truly remarkable. Akamas peninsula greeted him with enchanting Cyclamen blossoms in full bloom. These dainty flowers added splashes of color amidst nature's serene backdrop. The iconic Petra tou Romiou (Aphrodite's Rock) beckoned Peter towards its mystical allure at sunset. This pebble beach near Pissouri Bay held ancient tales and legends within its rocky embrace. Bermuda buttercup flowers dotted Akamas peninsula like golden gems scattered across lush greenery. Their cheerful presence brought joy to all who crossed their path. In Karpaz Peninsula, a majestic Mediterranean cypress towered above everything else—a symbol of strength and longevity in this breathtaking landscape. Further north in Kaplica, Northern Cyprus, Peter encountered a giant fennel flower—its intricate details mesmerizing under closer inspection. Raindrops delicately adorned Mallow-leaved bindweed flowers—an exquisite sight that showcased nature's artistry even during moments of precipitation. Returning once more to Akamas peninsula, Cyclamen blooms welcomed him back with open petals—a reminder that beauty can be found even in familiar places. As his adventure drew to a close, Peter witnessed Petra tou Romiou bathed in soft twilight hues—a farewell gift from this enchanting location near Paphos, Cyprus.
