On the 6th of April 1998, locals gathered at The Emperor Hadrian pub in Battle Hill, Wallsend to enjoy a pint and soak up the atmosphere. Looking south on a midsummer's day across the Tynemouth Long Sands towards the Priory, Castle, and the mouth of the Tyne is truly breathtaking. Recent conservation efforts have been undertaken to preserve this picturesque view for generations to come. At the mouth of River Tyne stands the North Pier in Tynemouth. This iconic structure serves as a reminder of North Tyneside's maritime heritage and offers visitors an opportunity to take in panoramic views of their surroundings. A causeway leads to St. Marys Lighthouse on St. Marys Island in Whitley Bay.
