Jan Porcellis, a renowned Dutch painter of the 17th century, was known for his captivating maritime landscapes. His works often depicted ships battling against gales and storms, showcasing his exceptional ability to capture the raw power of nature. Porcellis collaborated with Gillis van Scheyndel (I) on several dune landscape paintings in 1645. These artworks feature various individuals engaged in different activities amidst the sandy terrain. In one piece titled "Dune Landscape with a Fisherman, " we see a lone fisherman casting his line into the vast ocean while Porcellis masterfully captures the tranquility of the scene. Another dune landscape painting by Porcellis and van Scheyndel depicts a walker strolling along the sandy shores.
