Giovanni Antonio Canaletto, a renowned Italian painter of the 18th century, captured the enchanting beauty of Venice in his masterpieces. One such painting is "The Grand Canal, Venice, Looking Southeast, with the Campo della Carita to the Right" from the 1730s. Joseph Wagner pays tribute to Canaletto in his painting titled "Prisco onor pur dura. . " created around 1760. With delicate brushstrokes reminiscent of his predecessor's style, Wagner captures a serene landscape bathed in soft light. "The Doge in Bucintoro Departing for Porto di Lido on Ascension Day" is another masterpiece by Canaletto.
