The Easy Chair, a timeless piece of furniture that has evolved over the centuries. In 1937, Arthur Johnson created an iconic design that still captivates us today. Its presence can be traced back to William Tarn and Co. 's Illustrated Catalogue, where prices for various furniture were listed. From a beech and cane armchair in 1810 to a turned mahogany and birch beauty with cotton upholstery in 1890, the Easy Chair has always been about comfort and style. A stunning example from c. 1750-70 showcases its craftsmanship with mahogany, maple, cherry wood, and yellow silk. Intriguingly, the Windsor armchair took on a new dimension in 1871-81 when rockers were added to create an even more relaxing experience. And let's not forget the elegant walnut and textile armchair from around 1720 - truly a masterpiece of its time. But it was Antoni Gaudí who pushed boundaries by designing an Easy Chair sofa that exuded his unique artistic flair. His creation remains awe-inspiring till this day. Advertisements have played their part too; Premier easy chairs made waves in 1926 through captivating campaigns that showcased their unparalleled comfort and sophistication. These ads became engrained in our collective memory as we flipped through pages filled with enticing offers from Army and Navy Stores Catalogue in 1939-40. The Easy Chair is not just a piece of furniture; it represents relaxation, elegance, innovation - all rolled into one. It stands as a testament to human creativity throughout history while providing us with ultimate comfort at home or office spaces alike.
