"Dendrobatidae: A Colorful World of Poison Frogs" In the enchanting rainforests of Costa Rica and Peru, a fascinating family of frogs known as Dendrobatidae thrives. These tiny creatures captivate with their vibrant hues and intriguing behaviors. At night, the Granular poison frog (Oophaga granulifera) finds solace on a leaf, its striking colors illuminated by the moonlight in Uvita, Costa Rica. Meanwhile, the Blessed poison frog (Ranitomeya benedicta) showcases its nurturing side as it carries tadpoles on its back through Yurimaguas, Alto Amazonas in Peru. Witnessing this paternal instinct is truly heartwarming. The Imitating poison frog (Ranitomeya imitator) gracefully rests on a leaf in Tarapoto, Peru. Its intricate patterns mimic other poisonous species to ward off predators. In contrast, the Strawberry poison frog (Oophaga pumilio), photographed against a white background in a mobile field studio, stands out like a ruby gemstone. Amongst them is the Green and black poison dart frog (Dendrobates auratus), found at La Selva Field Station in Costa Rica. This charismatic amphibian showcases nature's artistry with its vivid green body adorned with bold black markings. Inside bromeliads or perched delicately on leaves at Boca Tapada lies another Green-and-Black Poison Dart Frog - an exquisite sight to behold. Costa Rica also hosts the charming Strawberry poison-dart frog (Oophaga pumilio / Dendrobates pumilio). Whether basking under sunlight or seeking refuge within cup fungi, these little wonders bring life to their surroundings at La Selva Field Station. Lastly, we find three Strawberry poison frogs gathered upon rocks in Sarapiqui's lush landscapes in Heredia province of Costa Rica.
