Despite fierce competition from fellow riders, he demonstrated unparalleled skill and claimed victory in both events. Throughout his career, Dave Hughes experimented with various bikes to push himself further. In 1978's Junior TT race, he rode a Maxton Yamaha to showcase its capabilities while leaving competitors trailing behind him in awe. In 1986's Formula Two TT event, Dave Hughes chose Honda as his ride of choice. The decision paid off handsomely as he crossed the finish line triumphantly amidst thunderous applause from spectators. Another memorable moment occurred during the 1981 Senior TT race when Dave Hughes opted for a Maxton Yamaha bike.
