In November, an impressive Granulated Ground Beetle stands proudly on a fallen leaf in England. Meanwhile, a Meadow Pipit shows off its hunting skills with a captured carabid beetle prey perched on a wooden post in Beadnell. On the beach strandline of Studland, Isle of Purbeck, you might spot the elusive Large-headed Ground Beetle among debris. In May, keep your eyes peeled for the striking Wood Tiger Beetle as it scampers across sandy heathland in Dorset. A curious Harpalus affinis explores dead wood in Belvedere garden and surprises us with pollen grains adorning its legs. Powys, Wales welcomes another stunning Ground Beetle species - Poecilus cupreus - as it finds solace on a vibrant yellow flower. Venturing into caves brings encounters with Duvalius doriae doriae; this Dorias Cave Beetle can be seen foraging deep within Pignone cave in Liguria Province, Italy during May. Back to English gardens in April, Harpalus affinis makes yet another appearance but this time rests gracefully on a leaf. The Italian Alps provide unique sightings: Nebria germari confidently stands on gravel and ice glaciers during July. Finally, we meet Amara aulica resting peacefully on a leaf amidst Belvedere's garden heatwave in July.
