In the small town of Pie Town, New Mexico in 1940, Mrs. Norris proudly poses with her homegrown cabbage, one of the many vegetables she tended to with care. The image captured by Russell Lee showcases the simplicity and self-sufficiency that defined life in this rural community. Meanwhile, on Grunerloekka, a manor house stands tall against a picturesque landscape. Painted on canvas, this artwork transports us to a different time and place where cabbage patches were likely abundant. Animals too have their own anecdotes involving cabbages. In an engraving from 1924 titled "A Sly Couple, " we witness their mischievous nature as they plot together near a patch of these leafy greens. Similarly, Fontaine Fables' engraving "The Ass and his Masters" from 1905 reminds us that even animals can be masters of their own destiny amidst fields filled with cabbages. Moving forward in time to more recent memories, we find ourselves in 1987 when young girls delightedly played with their beloved Cabbage Patch Dolls. These iconic toys brought joy and imagination into countless households across America. But it wasn't just children who fell under the spell of these dolls; adults too embraced them wholeheartedly. The infamous "Punker Baby Gang" emerged within the Cabbage Patch Doll community in July 1984 - rebellious little figures challenging societal norms even at such a tender age. Xavier Roberts deserves credit for creating this phenomenon that swept through America like wildfire. His innovative concept turned simple dolls into cherished companions for millions around the country. Harrods department store also recognized the allure Dolls as they offered them for sale alongside other prestigious merchandise. Barbara Ericson from Dallas was among those captivated by these adorable playmates displayed within Harrods' grand walls. Finally, stepping inside Romer Parrish toy shop in October 1993, we can imagine the excitement and wonder that filled the air.
