"Bombycilla: The Elegant Cedar Waxwing in Action" Witness the beauty of the Bombycilla cedrorum, commonly known as the cedar waxwing. With its sleek plumage and distinctive crest, this bird is a sight to behold. In April, in Connecticut, USA, a Cedar Waxwing perches gracefully on a branch with a juicy berry clutched delicately in its beak. Its vibrant yellow-tipped tail feathers add a pop of color against the lush green backdrop. Venturing further north to New York, we catch another glimpse of these enchanting creatures. A Cedar Waxwing skillfully catches Crabapple fruit in its beak; an impressive display of agility and precision. Not just one but four Cedar Waxwings gather together in Ithaca, feasting on more Crabapple fruit. Their synchronized movements create an awe-inspiring spectacle against the springtime scenery. Traveling all the way to Marion County, Illinois on June 13th, 2021, we find yet another Cedar Waxwing perched atop a blue atlas cedar tree. Its slender silhouette blends seamlessly with the branches as it surveys its surroundings. Time seems to stand still as we observe another Cedar Waxwing indulging in berries on June 20th, 2016. The vibrant red hue contrasts beautifully against its soft gray feathers - truly nature's artwork at play. As spring arrives and migration begins anew for these magnificent birds, they embark on their journey alongside other avian companions such as Tree Swallows and Bohemian waxwings (Bombycilla garrulus). Together they paint the sky with their graceful flight patterns and melodious calls. The Bombycilla cedrorum or cedar waxwing captures our hearts with every sighting. From Connecticut to New York and beyond - these elegant creatures remind us of nature's wonders that unfold before our very eyes.
