"The Bibliophile's Journey through History: From The Bookworm to Joan of Arc" Step into the world of bibliophiles as we embark on a captivating journey through time. Our first stop takes us back to 1850, where "The Bookworm" captures the essence of those who are truly devoted to books. Moving forward, we encounter King Francis I of France, known as Francois I, roi, whose love for literature led him to establish a royal library. Next, we find ourselves at "The Bibliophilists Haunt or Creechs Bookshop, " an enchanting place where book lovers gather and immerse themselves in literary treasures. Anthony Woodville joins our narrative; his passion for books is reflected in his collection that has stood the test of time. As we delve deeper into history, we catch glimpses of everyday people who were also avid readers - from servant girls and chambermaids to peasants in the late 16th century. Their thirst for knowledge transcended social boundaries and united them under the spellbinding power of words. Marguerite de Chalons, comtesse de Tonnerre d. 1463 emerges as a prominent figure among bibliophiles; her patronage supported numerous literary works that have shaped our understanding today. We then shift our focus to the Uniform of the Kings Bodyguard - Garde-du-corps - symbolizing how even those entrusted with protecting royalty found solace within pages. Antoine Quentin Fouquier de Tinville comes into view next; his role as a prosecutor during the French Revolution did not deter him from indulging in books during his free time. Madame de Montespan enters our story as well – mistress of King Louis XIV but also an ardent reader who sought refuge between book covers. Our journey wouldn't be complete without encountering Les Mignons at the court of King Henry III – individuals whose refined taste extended beyond fashion and artistry towards literature.
