"Bermuda Rig: A Timeless Elegance on the High Seas" Step back in time and witness the grace and power of the Bermuda rig, a sailing marvel that has captured hearts for decades. From the 205-ton J-class yacht Velsheda gracefully navigating close-hauled in 1933 to the mighty Cremona crashing through waves in 1913, these vessels showcase the artistry of Kirk & Sons of Cowes. In 1922, the Yarmouth One Design Greywing took center stage with its sleek design, courtesy once again of Kirk & Sons. Meanwhile, a trivia-worthy moment unfolded as a 12 Metre class yacht sailed close-hauled in 1939. The same year witnessed Stella's breathtaking performance under similar conditions - yet another testament to Kirk & Sons' craftsmanship. The racing scene came alive in 1914 when Lanka, Wamba, and Stella fiercely competed on reaching legs. Wamba II stole attention by effortlessly running downwind under its vibrant spinnaker. Not far behind was Ancora (K3), an impressive sight as it soared beneath its billowing spinnaker sails in 1913. No discussion about Bermuda rigs would be complete without mentioning two iconic J-Class yachts: Shamrock V and Britannia. In their regal splendor, they graced our waters with their presence in 1934 - masterpieces crafted by none other than Kirk & Sons. Let us not forget Margaret (K14), a stunning example from the renowned six-meter class fleet that dominated seas worldwide since its inception. In her glory days of close-hauled sailing back in 1921, she showcased both beauty and speed simultaneously. Finally, we pay homage to Cremona - moored proudly with flags fluttering high above her decks since her creation by Kirk & Sons back in 1913.
