Earthrise over Moon, Apollo 8

Earthrise over Moon, Apollo 8. This famous image, one of the first of the Earth seen from another world, was taken by US astronauts on board the Apollo 8 spacecraft on 24th December 1968 as they orbited the Moon. The astronauts saw this view with the Moon's surface at right, but the image is usually displayed in this orientation to show the Earth rising over the Moon. Along with the first photographs of the Earth from space, this photograph become iconic for its depiction of the beauty and fragility of the Earth

View of Old Town City of Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Mediterranean Sea, a seaport on the Dalmation coast. In 1979, the city of Dubrovnik joined the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.
Although Dubrovnik was demilitarised in the 1970s to protect it in case of war, in 1991, after the breakup of Yugoslavia, it was besieged by the Serb and Montenegrin soldiers gathered in the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) for seven months and suffered significant damage from shelling.
After the war all damage was repaired in original style.
