Amidst the rich history of the Ottoman Empire, the Tomb of Abu Ayyub al-Ansari in Istanbul's Eyup Sultan Mosque stands as a testament to the faith and bravery of the Ansari Companions. The intricately decorated interior of the shrine to Osman I in Bursa, adorned with eight composite Iznik polychrome square tiles from 1575, reflects the grandeur and artistic prowess of the era. Meanwhile, the engravings of The War in the Soudan: the Defences of Suakim, the Future Base of Operations, depict the empire's military might and expansionist aspirations. In stark contrast, the beauty of an Iznik tile with plum blossoms and tulips, made circa 1570, showcases the delicate artistry of the time. As we journey through history, we also look to the future, with visions of space exploration, as seen in the Wild Fire private spacecraft and SpaceShipOne on display in museums. Yet, we never forget the roots of our past, as we pay our respects at the cemetery at Eyoub in Constantinople, where the legacy of the Ansari Companions continues to inspire.
