Amasis II, the Pharaoh of Egypt from 570-526 BC, was a ruler known for his beauty and wealth. One such admirer of his daughter's beauty was Cambyses II, the Persian king who couldn't help but be captivated by her allure. During his reign, Amasis engaged in wars with various kingdoms, including one with Pharaoh-Hophra. In an engraving depicting this conflict from Jeremiah XLIV:30, we see Pharaoh-Hophra being taken prisoner by Amasis. The artistic prowess of the time is evident in terracotta artifacts like lekythos and aryballos dating back to around 550-530 BC. These intricate pieces showcase the craftsmanship and creativity prevalent during Amasis' rule. One lithograph depicts a messenger returning from Oroetus with tales of immense riches. This highlights not only Amasis' power but also his ability to amass great wealth for Egypt. In another artwork called "The Ring of Polycrates, " painted in 1572 on slate, we see a symbol of good fortune associated with Amasis' reign. The ring represents how everything Polycrates touched turned into success under Amasis' wise leadership.
