In France, the high tide in the Seine at Tancarville Point on the night of 9 March, 1882, was immortalized in this engraving. Italy's patriot, General Giacomo Medici, was also a notable figure on this day in 1874, as shown in this engraving. Back in England, the opening of the Great Central Railway on 9 March, 1897, brought excitement and progress, as seen in this lithograph. Outside Buckingham Palace on the night of 9 March, 1901, the British people sang the National Anthem in celebration, as captured in this engraving. The Great Central Railway continued to expand, as shown in this lithograph of scenes on the route. In 1902, Sir Evelyn Wood and Commandant Joubert met to arrange the armistice in the Transvaal War on 9 March, as depicted in this engraving.
