Here, we discover a leaf from a large Quran dating back to 1344 - an illuminated manuscript on buff paper that showcases the intricate beauty of calligraphy and religious devotion. Returning to Latvia's vibrant cityscape, we encounter the Order of the Garter - an esteemed chivalric order established during this era. This prestigious honor reminds us of Simone di Martino (1284-1344), also known as Simone Martini - an Italian artist whose works continue to captivate audiences today. One such masterpiece is "St Luke, " created by Simone Martini himself. This Sienese painter skillfully portrays St Luke in his signature style, capturing both grace and spirituality within his brushstrokes. Our journey then takes an unexpected turn towards Berlin-Mitte's official apartment of Joachim von Ribbentrop - Germany's Reich Foreign Minister during World War II.
