EDITORS COMMENTS
This lithograph, published in 1893, showcases a stunning array of pigeons from various breeds. Each bird is meticulously depicted with intricate details and vibrant colors, making this print a true masterpiece. Starting from the top left corner, we have the "Black German Nun" an elegant pigeon with its distinctive black plumage resembling that of a nun's habit. Moving clockwise, we encounter the graceful "Nuremberg swallow" and the eye-catching "German Shield Owl" in striking red feathers. Continuing our journey through this avian gallery, we come across the regal "Antwerp carrier pigeon" and the charmingly patterned "Old German tail owl". The exquisite white plumage of the "Fantail pigeon" catches our attention next before transitioning to the unique icy blue hues of the aptly named "Ice pigeon". As we proceed further down this visual feast, we discover more fascinating breeds such as the "Danish Tumbler" known for its acrobatic flight patterns, and the sleek-looking "Dutch Cropper". The long-beaked beauty of the "Long-beaked tumbler" captures our gaze before leading us to admire both versions of the mesmerizing "Fantail pigeon". The print also features notable breeds like the dignified-looking "Archangel pigeon" followed by another variation of fantails called “Konigsberg Moorhead. ” The delicate elegance of a white-colored “Pomeranian pouter” stands out amidst these diverse species. Towards reaching completion on this ornithological voyage are two distinct pigeons: one being an intriguing breed known as “Jacobin Pigeon, ” or Capuchine Pigeon due to its resemblance to Capuchin monks' hoods; while beside it rests a magnificent specimen called “Florentine Pigeon. ” Finally, rounding off this remarkable collection are three exceptional birds -the serene-looking “Monk Pigeon, ” the resplendent “Bokhara Trumpeter” known for its
