Muskox (Ovibos moschatus) near wind farm, Nome, Alaska, USA
Muskox (Ovibos moschatus) is an Arctic hoofed mammal of the family Bovidae, noted for its thick coat and for the strong odor emitted during the seasonal rut by males, from which its name derives. This musky odor is used to attract females during mating season. Its Inuktitut name umingmak translates to the bearded one. Muskoxen primarily live in Greenland and the Canadian Arctic of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut with small introduced populations in the American state of Alaska, the Canadian territory of Yukon, the Scandinavian Peninsula and Siberia

This print captures the harmonious coexistence between nature and renewable energy in the breathtaking landscapes of Nome, Alaska. In this picturesque scene, a group of majestic Muskoxen gracefully roam near a wind farm, showcasing the delicate balance between wildlife and sustainable development. The Muskox (Ovibos moschatus), an iconic Arctic mammal known for its thick coat and distinctive musky odor during mating season, stands as a symbol of resilience in these remote regions. With their Inuktitut name "umingmak" translating to "the bearded one" these magnificent creatures embody strength and adaptability. While primarily found in Greenland and the Canadian Arctic, small introduced populations can also be observed in Alaska's vast wilderness. Here, amidst rolling clouds painted across the sky, they find themselves surrounded by towering wind turbines that harness clean energy from the ever-present Alaskan winds. This image serves as a reminder of our responsibility to protect both wildlife habitats and our planet's future. It showcases how green energy initiatives like wind farms can peacefully coexist with natural ecosystems while reducing our reliance on fossil fuels.
