EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the majestic beauty of three Nubian giraffes gracefully standing amidst a serene landscape of acacia trees in Twyfelfontein, Namibia. The Nubian giraffe, also known as Giraffa camelopardalis camelopardalis, is the nominate subspecies of giraffe and can be found in Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, and Sudan. Once widespread throughout Northeast Africa, the Nubian giraffe now faces significant threats to its survival. This subspecies has been listed as Vulnerable by the IUCN since 2016 due to habitat loss and poaching. Sadly, it is currently extinct in the wild in certain regions such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, and Eritrea. The distinguishing features of these magnificent creatures are their sharply defined chestnut-colored spots surrounded by mostly white lines. In males specifically, a prominent median lump develops on their necks. Against a backdrop of vibrant greenery and blue skies on this sunny day captured by photographer Danita Delimont from Fine Art Storehouse's collection - we witness nature at its finest. As we admire this stunning image devoid of human presence but filled with natural wonderment – let us reflect upon our responsibility to protect these incredible animals for future generations. May this photograph serve as a reminder that every effort counts towards preserving not only the Nubian giraffe but all species that share our planet's diverse ecosystems.
