Originally believed to be a devotional prayer book, this ensemble consists of forty-four exquisitely illustrated leaves in the First Gondarene style. Vibrant and animated scenes from the Bible come to life on these pages, alongside depictions of Ethiopian monks, worshippers, and saints. Among them is Tekle Haymanot (c. 1215-c. 1313), an esteemed Ethiopian saint who founded a renowned monastery.
