This picture shows the SS Willkarnman, moored at a coal staith in the Albert Edward Docks, North Shields. The artist has painted the background quite simply, but great care has been taken with the ship and the staith. These areas are the main focus of the picture, and so are much more detailed. James Henry Cleet was a talented amateur painter and professional photographer in his home town of South Shields.
