This photograph shows the grand staircase of the building with decorative planting supplied by the nurseries of Fisher, Son and Sibray, possibly in preparation for the opening of the town hall by Queen Victoria on May 21st 1897. FINMERE STATION, Oxfordshire. The Great Central Railway Company built this station on the line from Sheffield through Nottingham and Leicester to London in 1898-9. A new Great Central Railway terminus was built at Marylebone. Behind these porters are posters advertising tickets for trips to London. These journeys would be unthinkable for most people before the coming of the railways. Photographed by Alfred Newton and Son in 1904

The Stonehouse themed pub, Sheffield, 1971. Popular with both students from the local university and drinkers taking advantage of the busy night life Sheffield had to offer, the Stonehouse was always popular, with its street theme and cobbled flooring. Taken in 1971 for Tetleys, this was probably one of the first of the UK's themed pubs. The pub has since been closed down and the land used for redevelopment
